Love of a Man Named Dog
1998,
plaster, taxidermied dog’s head, crickets, marble
Zachęta - National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland
In the sculpture (prepared for the presentation in the Zachęta’s Mały Salon), the artist gave a child’s figure her own hands and face. Brought together, a child, a woman, and dead animals cause a sense of shock, yet they also raise questions about the hidden depths of our psyche, about traumas and anxieties possibly rooted in love and sexuality.
The sculpture is part of the Zachęta National Gallery of Art collection.
